Deployment Support: Camp Taji, Iraq
Against the backdrop of Al Taji Army Airfield 27 miles northwest
of downtown Baghdad, IAP has demonstrated its operational
expertise in supporting military deployments. In the midst
of hostile and austere conditions, IAP operates and maintains
the Army’s Camp Taji, a sprawling facility supporting
more than 15,000 people.
The camp is a project of RMS, a wholly-owned subsidiary of
IAP. In late 2003 RMS, was tasked under the Air Force Contract
Augmentation Program to manage the large and complex logistical
task of Camp Taji.
RMS researched, planned, designed, and constructed a fully
functioning Life Support Area (LSA) at Camp Taji. The LSA, which
uses modular trailer facilities, accommodates more than 9,000 Army
troops along with contractors and other personnel.
RMS successfully completed its mission in a hostile environment
through rapid mobilization, pre-planned operations and tasks,
pre-positioned equipment and materials, and emphasis on security
for personnel, property and materials.
RMS limited total task order growth for the LSA to less than
10 percent in a time of increasing hostile action, wide-spread
fighting, terrorist activity and bombings, which led to construction
delays and increased security costs.
