Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
As
the Master Vendor Contractor at California’s Lawrence
Livermore National Laboratory, IAP helps our federal customer
augment its diverse workforce, supplying a workforce of hundreds
of employees in a wide range of specialties from nuclear
physics to maintenance.
IAP works closely with the University of California, the
operator of the laboratory for the U.S. Department of Energy.
Livermore is the site of cutting-edge energy research, including
the National Ignition Facility (NIF). Spanning the length
of two football fields, NIF will house the world’s
largest laser when it’s completed in 2009. The 192-beam
laser is being designed for fusion energy research.
Since 1999 IAP has hired more than 2,500 employees for Livermore,
with upwards of 70 percent of those people converted to lab
positions.
As part of the Master Vendor contract, IAP works with two
small business subcontractors: Remtech Services Inc. (RSI),
which fills our IT Professional and Security Escort positions,
and AID Employment, which is a non-profit business hiring
adults with intellectual disabilities to perform custodial
services and bicycle repairs to the lab fleet of more than
1,000 bicycles.
IAP received Livermore’s Supplier of the Year award
for FY-03 and FY-04. The University of California also has
documented more than $10 million per year in cost savings
since awarding the contract to IAP.
