10 Principles of ES&H Excellence

The following ten principles are the foundation of our commitment to ES&H Excellence:

1. Commitment
Management at all levels of the Company is committed to the achievement of ES&H excellence. Every manager must demonstrate commitment to this goal and strive to provide adequate resources to achieve this goal and follow our ES&H principles. Personnel in management positions are accountable for uncompromising support of the process and must never present any circumstance as an exception to their commitment.

2. Organization
We maintain and enhance a Company wide organizational structure and culture that recognizes and encourages the active participation of all employees in the management of ES&H issues. We incorporate clear and unambiguous lines of authority and responsibility for ES&H throughout the organization.

3. Accountability
Achievement of ES&H excellence is reliant on the continuing participation and accountability of management. Personal ES&H responsibility is corporate policy, with potentially severe consequences for failure to comply. Management at all levels is responsible for ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with this policy and that effective ES&H processes and procedures have been developed and implemented for each facility and operation under their supervision.

4. Allocation of Resources
We allocate appropriate funds and personnel to develop, implement, and maintain effective ES&H programs. We commit appropriate resources and funding, including proper staffing, financial support, and safe design, that reflect our dedication to ES&H excellence.

5. Management and Standards
Every IAP facility and operating unit in the world deploys an ES&H management system designed to continually improve performance. Our ES&H management systems are based on a rigorous process consistent with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 international standards.

6. Risk Management
We ensure that potential ES&H risks associated with all our activities are assessed as early as is practicable in order to minimize and manage adverse effects and to identify opportunities for improvement. IAP strives to eliminate or manage any foreseeable hazards that may endanger the health and safety of our employees, the environment, or the communities in which we work.

7. Compliance
We operate to standards that comply with the requirements of appropriate national and international legislation and codes of practice and, furthermore, we strive beyond compliance. We participate with governments and industry groups in creating responsible laws, regulations and standards to help safeguard the workplace, community and environment. Where no regulatory standards exist, we adopt and impose our own ES&H standards in accordance with industry standards of practice.

8. Training
IAP believes training is essential to ES&H excellence and is committed to provide training and development on health, safety, and environmental matters that are appropriate to each employee’s job duties and responsibilities. The management of each of operating group ensures that appropriate training is conducted on a regular basis.

9. Monitor, Audit and Review
Effective management requires on-going assessment and review to determine whether our ES&H policies and programs are being appropriately implemented. IAP maintains an on-going assessment, self-evaluation and audit program to provide management and the Board of Directors with verification that operations are in compliance with laws, regulations, Company policies and standards and to facilitate the spread of best practices throughout our operations.

10. Continuous Improvement
IAP believes that effective ES&H management is good business. As in other areas of our business, IAP is committed to continuous improvement of ES&H management practices. We believe that adherence to these principles will assist us in achieving our objective of ES&H excellence. Each year we will identify specific goals against which we will measure our progress toward ES&H excellence.
