United Way Honors IAP at Awards Celebration
Cape Canaveral, FL — United Way of Brevard recognized the organizations and individuals who came together to raise $6,300,000 to help neighbors meet basic needs and build an even better life for themselves and their families at its annual awards celebration April 2, 2015. IAP Worldwide Services, Inc. was among the companies honored at the celebration as a “Top 25” campaign contributor.
Centering on the theme, “It’s About People,” IAP conducted a four-week campaign at its headquarters in Cape Canaveral, FL. During the campaign, employees participated in fundraising activities and heard firsthand from United Way Space Coast agency representatives who shared success stories from the work their agencies support. Representatives also addressed the importance of community involvement in helping to make positive and long-lasting change in peoples’ lives in Brevard County.
Successfully completing its campaign, IAP and its headquarters employees presented a check for $46,162 to the United Way. The Company also was a $5,000 Platinum level sponsor for the United Way Loaned Leader program.
“Because of IAP’s Loaned Leader support, we were able to hire a recent graduate from the University of Florida for 12 weeks to assist our very small staff during the campaign,” said Alecia Blattler, Senior Manager of Resource Development at United Way of Brevard. “IAP was the only organization to give us a sponsorship at that top Platinum level. We also are pleased to have IAP’s Chief Financial Officer Terry DeRosa on our Board of Directors and are especially grateful for his commitment of service and leadership.”
“I am proud that IAP can be part of the solution to creating a better future for our neighbors,” said Mr. DeRosa. “We take our responsibility to our shareholders, our people, and the community very seriously, and we are honored to support this worthy cause.”
More than 40 health and human care organizations on the Space Coast depend on United Way funds to run their programs. The agencies United Way supports run the gamut, from providing meals to seniors to after-school programs for at-risk kids. About 200,000 people were helped last year.
“The vision of United Way of Brevard is to create a community where everyone in the community has the opportunity to build a good life,” said Rob Raines, President of United Way of Brevard. “With the support of companies like IAP, we can focus on the very things that help build a stable life – Education, Income, and Health.”
